Delicious recipe for gnocchi with Västerbotten cheese, sage and butter. Gnocchi is a common starter in Italy but also serves as a main course and as an alternative to pasta.
500 g of fresh gnocchi
0.5 dl hazelnuts
50 g butter
10 fresh sage leaves
1 yellow onion
1 cup food cream
150 g grated Västerbottensost cheese
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Gnocchi with Västerbottensost®
Cook the gnocchi according to the instructions on the package.
Pour off the water.
Chop hazelnuts, sage and onion and sauté in a skillet along with the butter.
Add the gnocchi to the pan and fry together until they get a nice surface, then set aside.
Grate Västerbottensost, and mix together with two eggs and the cream.
Turn into the skillet with the gnocchi and stir for a few minutes until the cheese has melted.
Salt and pepper to taste and top with a little more grated Västerbottensost.
