Deep-fried Västerbotten cheese® with cloudberries and vanilla ice cream is just as good as it sounds. The perfect dessert for a successful dinner.
300 g Västerbottensost cheese®
2 tablespoons wheat flour
1 egg white
1 cup panko or breadcrumbs
3 dl frying oil
3 cups cloudberry jam
250 g vanilla ice cream
Rosemary, fresh for toppingz
Deep-fried Västerbotten cheese® with cloudberry jam and vanilla ice cream
Divide Västerbottensost into smaller pieces.
Double bread them thoroughly by first turning the cheese into wheat flour and then into lightly whipped egg white.
Finally, dip them in breadcrumbs so that it completely covers the cheese.
Heat the oil to 180°.
Deep-fry the cheese pieces, a few at a time, until they acquire a golden yellow color.
Pick them up with a slotted spoon and let them drain on paper towels.
Serve lukewarm with warm cloudberries and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Top with fresh rosemary.
